Monday Rant

First day back at school today for my 6 year old.

Approach school gate carefully watching out for dog dirt, which sadly is a feature of many streets in this city. We keep our eyes peeled, do a few jumps to avoid several dog-created sausages and then one brand new Hush-Puppied shoe is coated from heel to toe and up the side too in a foul smelling brown dog jobbie..........

Result. Crying 6 year old. Stinking shoe. Social isolation in the classroom. Mother has a dry boak as she (that's me folks) tries to clean it off with a shred of paper tissue (nearby grass wouldn't shift it). Evil smelling.

And so the wee thing goes into a different playground, with a new teacher and new classmates, in tears. I want to go in with her, hold her, tell her its OK, bolster her confidence, but of course I can't.

Don't get me started on irresponsible dog owners.
What do you think the solution is to dog fouling???

  1. I say we should put down all dogs. And I'm not talking psychology either. "You hairy brute!"; "You stink!"; "Your mother's a b*tch"; they just don't get results. Take them all to the vet I say.
Is that just a touch harsh and uncharitable perhaps? Perhaps some dog lovers secretly feel the same about children...

  2. OOOOOOoooooooh rhubarb - harsh words indeed (I kinda agree with you actually but I was too SCARED to type them out)..............

What about other pets - have you ever had any? Or does your loathing of dogs extend to other species?

PS I would link to your blog on the left hand side over there <~~~~~ but I don't know how to change the tags from "Edit Me" to talkrhubarb. Spent half an hour trying to decode html and then thought "pah"> Too little time, too much unfathomable nonsense!

  3. Get a Tiger, let it roam around and the problem of stray dogs and crying children will I'm asured be solved!

In the words of Mrs Doyle in Father Ted, go on, go on, go on........

Leave me a wee message! Only rules - is it true, is it kind, is it necessary?
